To secure the awning you will first need to go to the roof of the rv.
Awning on rv wont retract.
The canvas will buckle and put too much tension on the motor.
Another reason your awning in not retracting good could be the screws on the awning chord.
The cotter pins are the ones that lock the spring tension securely while taking down the rv awning.
When you release the tension in the spring the cotter pin that is inserted in the holes in the awning arms are removed.
If the awning motor doesn t receive power it will not be able to extend or retract your awning.
The awning does not function properly now it will move in and out with the remote but operates very slowly and does not lock into the travel trailer the switch on the wall for operating the awning works sporadically most of the time this switch will extend the awning but not retract it.
When you get on top you will need to look at the awning and see if something is stuck and causing it to stick.
Locate the supply connection terminal on the motor and connect it with the battery supply wires that you will have.
If it did show 12 v then that means the awning wiring is fine and the issue lies with the motor.

Low 12v power this could be caused by a bad battery or the 12v converter in your rv may have failed or be failing.
The easiest way to check your power is with the battery meter built in to your rv.
You also need to check the awning chord that is placed along with the screws on the awning rail.
Realign the rv awning arms and make sure they stay in their position.
Pull the fabric down in unison to release the rolling mechanism.
Pull the awning off the rv.
It s a common mistake for campers to extend their rv awning out too far to the point where water would collect on the awning itself.
Step 1 prepare to re insert the cotter pin.
Loosen the attachment points at the awning housing with the screwdrivers.
If it needs replacing then get that done at the earliest.
Like a window shade an awning occasionally will be extended too far out requiring a tougher pull down to engage the retracting rollers.
